The Gospel Road

Barry was one of the founding fathers of the Jesus Music Movement. His songs, along with Larry Norman, Love Song, Chuck Girard, Randy Mathews, Randy Stonehill, Phil Keagy and Andréa Crouch, started a whole new wave of contemporary Christian music.

He has been nominated for several Grammy’s and has won a number of Dove Awards. He has three gold albums one of which is Bullfrogs and Butterflies. Bullfrogs and Butterflies became one the most recognisable songs in Contemporary Christian Music. It was sighted by the President of Dallas Theological Seminary as one of the best examples he could think of for putting the Gospel into normal everyday language.

His first Gospel album was Seeds (1972) his last for a recording label being Finer Than Gold (1981).

After being told he was no longer commercially valuable in the Christian Music Market, he left the industry and returned to the simplicity of a man and an acoustic guitar, following an independent ministry as many of the original Jesus Movement Artists of the early 70's have.

Barry has continued to write and perform and share his stories around the world for the last 35 years. His latest Gospel Album 'Pilgrim' has just been remastered with three additional tracks reflecting Barry's ongoing journey.

In many ways Barry has been like a prophet of old, always a few steps ahead of the church. Not always understood but always challenging. He church services still command attention no matter the age of those gathered and he continues to impact lives in ways that very few communicators of the Gospel can.
